Knitting Needles etc.

So far I’ve found rather limited sets of bamboo needles and many non-interchangeable sets. I’m hoping to find a set with needles size 5 to 15. I know I can find sets in non-bamboo, but I enjoy bamboo needles much more.

Wood needles split with interchangeable. I personally don’t use wood but Knit Picks has a set–Harmony Wood. It’s made with birth but not bamboo. A knitting friend swears by them. They cost about $70 for a complete set.

I like the old Knit Picks Options in metal. I’ve never had a problem with them and I use them for the Magic Loop method instead of DPNs.

   The only, and I mean the only, bamboo set of interchangeables of which I am aware is one that is Webs’ own brand (www.yarn.com) and runs about $100 for the set. Bamboo, like most wooden needles, just doesn’t lend itself well to interchangeable sets for some reason. Yes, I know KnitPicks has a set of wooden interchangeble needles, but these are laminates, not solid wood. I suspect that it has to do with the torque needed to set the cable in the needle tip securely.

   save your money and stay away from interchangeable set of all kind. they will only cause you problems. the major problems would be the cords and needles breaking, the pieces coming undone causing your work to unravel for inches maybe even feet.

   you are better off getting the needles separately.
