help!! knitting a scarf?

Posted on August 3rd, 2009 by admin

I just now started knitting, and I’m using a bamboo yarn. I can’t remember what it’s called exactly but it’s fairly thin and fuzzy. I bought 5mm needles because on the package it said that’s the size best for that yarn, and when i started knitting I had the thickness i wanted for a scarf for about two rows, and then for some reason it got thicker and thicker, and now the rows can barely fit on the needles because it’s so thick. It basically grew like 2 inches thicker, and the stitches are as close together when i look at it as they were first, so it’s not that they are stretched out. Why did it get this way? Is there any way to reverse this without starting completely over?

If you want it to look nice, yes you should start over. The best thing you could do is make a test swatch a few inches wide and a few inches long, Then take a ruler and see how many stiches are in one inch and use that information to decide how many stiches wide you want your scarf to be. If it got suddenly wider after so few rows it is very probable that at the beginning when you cast on you did it too too tight stretching it as you did it. You aways wnat to cast on a little loose. It might be a good idea to count your stiches each row for a little bit till you get some practice. There are diffent methods for casting on, The easiest is the wrap but it is harder to get tension correct, i use the knit cast on method. I found a site that has diagrams for both for you to look at, The yarn you are using is not really a good yarn to learn on so it might take a little more practice to make it come out right Good luck and have fun

How can Obama claim to "fix the broken politics in Washington" after he defeats Republican John McCain?

Posted on August 1st, 2009 by admin

How can we expect anything GOOD to come of Obama, and better how does he plan on changing anything? He does not give ANY details I will tell you how he will change it FOR THE WORSE, you what to know how to do worse than Bush look at Obama that is how! He knows little to nothing about Washington and worse he tries his best to bring down McCain with what should be miserable results can you honestly want a man in office that does not respect America or anything that we stand for? Why would you elect someone who does not respect those that have and do fight for our country? I want some one that says things like this:

‘The Pledge of Allegiance’ – by Senator John McCain

‘As you may know, I spent five and one half years as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. In the early years of our imprisonment, the NVA kept us in solitary confinement or two or three to a cell. In 1971 the NVA moved us from these conditions of isolation into large rooms with as many as 30 to 40 men to a room.

This was, as you can imagine, a wonderful change and was a direct result of the efforts of millions of Americans on behalf of a few hundred POWs 10,000 miles from home.

One of the men who moved into my room was a young man named Mike Christian.

Mike came from a small town near Selma , Alabama . He didn’t wear a pair of shoes until he was 13 years old. At 17, he enlisted in the US Navy. He later earned a commission by going to Officer Training School Then he became a Naval Flight Officer and was shot down and captured in 1967. Mike had a keen and deep appreciation of the opportunities this country and our military provide for people who want to work and want to succeed.

As part of the change in treatment, the Vietnamese allowed some prisoners to receive packages from home. In some of these packages were handkerchiefs, scarves and other items of clothing.

Mike got himself a bamboo needle. Over a period of a couple of months, he created an American flag and sewed it on the inside of his shirt.

Every afternoon, before we had a bowl of soup, we would hang Mike’s shirt on the wall of the cell and say the Pledge of Allegiance.

I know the Pledge of Allegiance may not seem the most important part of our day now, but I can assure you that in that stark cell it was indeed the most important and meaningful event.

One day the Vietnamese searched our cell, as they did periodically, and discovered Mike’s shirt with the flag sewn inside, and removed it.

That evening they returned, opened the door of the cell, and for the benefit of all of us, beat Mike Christian severely for the next couple of hours. Then, they opened the door of the cell and threw him in. We cleaned him up as well as we could.

The cell in which we lived had a concrete slab in the middle on which we slept Four naked light bulbs hung in each corner of the room.

As I said, we tried to clean up Mike as well as we could. After the excitement died down, I looked in the corner of the room, and sitting there beneath that dim light bulb with a piece of red cloth, another shirt and his bamboo needle, was my friend, Mike Christian. He was sitting there with his eyes almost shut from the beating he had received, making another American flag. He was not making the flag because it made Mike Christian feel better. He was making that flag because he knew how important it was to us to be able to Pledge our allegiance to our flag and country.

So the next time you say the Pledge of Allegiance, you must never forget the sacrifice and courage that thousands of Americans have made to build our nation and promote freedom around the world. You must remember our duty, our honor, and our country.’

‘I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.’
I know Obama will not win it will be by a landslide if the Americans that are hypnotized by him would wake up and smell what he is shoveling! I just put what the article I read on Yahoo said.

If you weren’t aware of this, but the pledge of allegiance was written by a socialist

Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine that rooted back eight thousand years from the Taoist tradition. There are ‘nine needles’ used in the practice of acupuncture, each having its own purpose. 1st prisoner released from "GITMO," a liar ?

Posted on July 28th, 2009 by admin

Binyam Mohamed states in a Rueters news release, upon release, accused the "U.S. Government of inflicting "Medieval" torture on him."

But in the report never once stated what "Torture" methods were used on him.

Did the "Torture" include ripping out his fingernails, driving bamboo splinters under his fingernails, burning his eyeballs with hot needles, forcing him to eat Pork, forcing him to witness beheadings ?

What does he consider Medieval torture ?
Don’t know if Army has admitted it or not. My question is, what did he consider Medieval torture ?

I, too, do not condone physical torture, although I consider mind games as a means of obtaining information as O.K.

Oh right. If the army doesn’t admit to torturing him then they must not have.

I don’t condone terrorism and he was locked up because he needed to be, but don’t be so foolish as to believe that they aren’t torturing those people just because they don’t have it documented in their paperwork.
