I need something fun to knit this summer and I don’t know what. I don’t want to do anything knick-knacky or decorative. Keep in mind that I’m a teenager so it has to be something fun and maybe a bit funky. I’m about an intermediate when it comes to skill. I already made myself a bag that is totally awesome but I need more! Any suggestions?
Etsy.com has some great handmade patterns for stuff, most are really inexpensive. You could just browse there to come up with some ideas — it’s all handmade and there is plenty of unique stuff on there!
In Knitting Daily TV Episode 307, meet Andrea Wong as she demonstrates the Portuguese style of knitting on a simple baby bootie pattern. If you’re interested in the notions to knit in the Portuguese style, or to learn more about this technique, visit

Hi. I have a 3yo son and my Mother in-law will knit him jumpers all the time. I try, but it takes me 2 years. lol!
I am looking for a snow theme pattern. I saw a little boys wearing a jumper, with a snow man and snow flakes everywhere. It was so beautiful. But I am interested in any winter themes at the moment.
If anyone could find this for me, or help me I promise I will love you forever! lol!
Thank you!!!!
I made my children one each years ago, but nolonger have the pattern. I have found these on Ebay, you may want to have a look at.

Thee is a sweater in there I want to make, but I am a beginner. How long does it take to make a sweater, and will my first one look good even if it is simple, I have never knitted, and if a start a project over my head, I may get too upset to finish. Is it possible to knit a good first sweater.
In one word – no.
If you’ve never knitted anything, start with a scarf. It doesn’t matter how simple it looks, as a beginner you will find it takes a while to become an even knitter and even longer to build up speed.
Depending on the yarn and needle thickness and how much time you have available, it could easily take weeks to finish your sweater, and that is knitting for maybe 2 to 3 hours a day.
Try these websites for beginner scarves:

There are lots of other very good knitting sites and there are also lots of youtube videos to help teach you how to knit.
Take some time with the basics until you master the basics and get your tension right (that is knitting a recommended number of stitches to an inch) and save your pattern until then.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
