Economic Crisis 2009 – Stock up on Crafts, Sewing, Quilting Supplies – Learn and teach how to

Posted on September 3rd, 2009 by admin

Discussion explaining to people that they should stock up on craft supplies, sewing and quilting supplies so that they will have materials on hand to make their own clothes, blankets, household useful items. During the coming depression you are not going to be able to go out and buy many items. But if you have crafting supplies already on hand, then you can make your own items.

Some items I would have on hand:

Fabric (material)
thread
needles
sewing machine
batting
scissors
measuring tape or yard stick
buttons
elastic
zippers
snaps
cutting mat
rotary cutter
bias tape
ribbon
yarn
knitting needles
glue
glue sticks
glue gun
wood
tools
nails
screws
bolts
paint
stain
pillow stuffing
paint brushes
crochet thread
patterns for men, women and children in your family’s sizes
iron or press

If you folks have any other tips or items, please share them in the comments section

Where do they sell thick sewing needles?

Posted on September 2nd, 2009 by admin

I’m looking for a thicker sewing needle. Is there any store that I could go to in a mall and buy one?

How thick? Are you sewing gunny sacks, or just need a thicker needle for something like embroidery? Hand sewing or machine sewing?

Try a fabric store like Joann or Hancock fabrics, or maybe even the crafts department of Walmart.

Klassé sewing machine needles

Posted on August 28th, 2009 by admin

All Klassé needles go through 155 quality checks, earning the industry’s highest quality rating for: stability at high speeds, seam appearance, clean stitch holes, and precise and uniform stitchability. A unique curved design at the critical clearance-above-the-eye (CAE) stress point distributes pressure equally and makes Klassé needles much stronger than conventional flat CAE needles. Do they allow sewing needles on airplanes?

Posted on August 21st, 2009 by admin

I literally have like nothing to do! But I can sew on the plane!
But the question is do they allow sewing needles on the plane?
I’m a 14 year old girl btw. I don’t see how I could be much of a threat with a sewing needle….
Oh and the needle is like realy small
I didn’t ask for suggestions idiot!!!
I asked if I can take needles on a plane.
GOD if you’re not going to answer the queston right then don’t bother answeing!

no :( They will see that as a threat! I know it seems silly, especially since your own teeth and nails are more of a danger. It’s for everyone’s safety though.

Worse Case Scenario? You take the sewing needle on board. The man next to you grabs it from you and threatens to poke a flight attendant in the eye unless she opens the cockpit. Man gets into cockpit and high jacks the plane ( this scenario is really far-fetched, but do you see my point?)

p.s. although, you could try and get away with taking it on board. If they ask if you have any sharp objects just lie.

If a sewing needle that has not been sterilized is used to pop a pimple, can you get HIV?

Posted on August 19th, 2009 by admin

Also, how long could HIV live on a sewing needle?

the real question here is why would the HIV virus be on a sewing needle? unless someone with HIV used the sewing needle, stabbed themself with it and then gave it to you to pop a pimple, you really shouldn’t have to worry about this.

can i take sewing needles on a plane?

In your packed luggage, yes. Not sure about hand luggage though. You could contact your airline and ask or just put them in your packed luggage to be on the safe side.
