Has any of you heard about it? What do you think?

Here’s the story: She was a Japanese girl, she was 16 when she got kidnapped in 1988. She was kidnapped by 4 boys from her school, and was held captive in one of them’s home. She was forced to impersonate as his girlfriend, and when she begged for help from the parents they ignored it because they were afraid of what might be done to them. She was held captive for 44 days during which she was raped over 400 times. She died because of the burns after they poured a flammable liquid on her and set her on fire. Here are some things that were done to her, and probably more, but these are known:

>Forced to call her parents and tell them she had run away
>Starved and malnutritioned
>Fed cockroaches to eat and urine to drink
>Forced to masturbate
>Forced to strip in front of others
>Burned with cigarette lighters
>Foreign objects inserted into her vagina/anus (for example, fireworks which were later set off)
>Face held against concrete ground and jumped on
>Hands tied to ceiling and body used as a punching bag
>Nose filled with so much blood that she can only breath through her mouth
>Dumbbells dropped onto her stomach
>Vomited when tried to drink water (her stomach couldn’t accept it)
>Tried to escape and punished by cigarette burning on arms
>Flammable liquid poured on her feet and legs, then lit on fire
>Bottle inserted into her anus, causing injury
>Unable to walk properly due to severe leg burns
>Beat with bamboo sticks
>Hands smashed by weights and fingernails cracked
>Beaten with golf club
>Cigarettes inserted into vagina
>Beaten with iron rods repeatedly
>Winter; forced outside to sleep in balcony
>Skewers of grilled chicken inserted into her vagina and anus, causing bleeding
>Hot wax dripped onto face
>Eyelids burned by cigarette lighter
>Stabbed with sewing needles in chest area
>Left nipple cut and destroyed with pliers
>Hot light bulb inserted into her vagina
>Heavy bleeding from vagina due to scissors insertion
>Unable to urinate properly
>Injuries were so severe that it took over an hour for her to crawl downstairs and use the bathroom
>Eardrums severely damaged
>Extreme reduced brain size
>Begged her torturers to "kill her and get it over with"

On January 1, 1989: Junko greeted the New Years Day alone.
Her body was mutilated so bad that she was unable to move from the ground. The four boys beat her mutilated body with an iron barbell, using a loss at the game of Mah-jongg as a pretext. She is profusely bleeding from her mouth and nose. They put a candle’s flame to her face and eyes.
Then, lighter fluid was poured onto her legs, arms, face and stomach, and then lit on fire. This final torture lasted for a time of two hours.

Junko Furuta died later that day, in pain and alone. The boys recieved 20 years of prisons each. Today, they are free men walking on the streets. There are rumours that apparently they’re proud of what they did.

A J-rock band Gazette wrote a tribute to her called ‘Taion.’

R.I.P Junko Furuta 1972-1988

Star if you nearly or cried when you read this.
http://12.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kvoqjg2ohb1qa5vxdo1_250.jpg
Picture of her if anyone’s interested.

The justice system is a joke, 20 years?

They should have got 440 days of torture then hanged.

I was at my Dr.s office over a year ago and there was a woman in the waiting room doing some type of craft using yarn to make a blanket. She told me what it was called but now I can’t remember.
It looked as though she was weaving, but without a loom or any other type of stand. She had different colored yarns tied off, that she wasn’t finished with. I think she was using a giant plastic needle, or maybe a crochet hook. It was not knitting or crocheting, or macrame.
I have been at the library for over an hour, and on the internet for even longer trying to figure this out, I’m stumped! Please help!

broomstick lace? Did it look very loopy?
nalbinding?

Those are the only two I can think of.

Look on your label. If you want them perfect, just wash in something like Woolite. I would, however, throw a swatch into the washer and dryer and see what happens. Normally, you can machine wash this stuff - it’s the dryer that fuzzes them out. I wash and dry most of my acrylic yarn afghans in the washer and dryer on delicate, low and cold water. But, I also test with a swatch to see if it fuzzes first.

What yarns (weight & fiber) are the best type of yarn to use for clothing for children (5-10), toddlers, newborns and babies in the winter? I’m trying to figure this out, I don’t want my children to be cold for the Winter. Also, what type of yarns should be used for seasons like fall and spring and/or summer? Thanks so much, I appreciate it!

The answer to that question depends entirely on where you live.

If you live in North Dakota or similar climate, use 100% wool or a blend such as wool and alpaca, wool and silk, or other animal fibers blended together. You’d want the warmest outdoor garments you can get. Bulky yarns, Lopi (which is my favorite yarn for outdoor jackets and sweaters), and yarns that are designed to hold in warmth are preferred.

If you live where I live, you’d use cotton, linen, lightweight wool, or synthetic fibers all year–because it’s too warm most of the time for heavy woolens. If it gets cool, we just switch to long sleeves and add a layer. Tightly spun yarn that "breathes" is preferred.

Basically, if you’re comfortable in garments made from the yarn, your kids are going to be comfortable as well.

My husbands mother gave our son a quilt that she hand knitted for his 1st birthday. She had it dry cleaned but that can get costly after a while. It needs washed since he sleeps with it every night. What is the best way to wash it without ruining it?

How you clean it depends on the fibre it is made from, not the construction!
Is it cotton, animal wool or synthetic? These are the most common fibres for knitting.
If it is cotton or synthetic you can machine wash it on a regular cycle, if it is wool it has to be washed in cold water on a wool or delicates cycle or else it will felt. With wool you also need a special detergent as well.
However if you are worried about how delicate it is, hand wash it in the bath tub using the wool detergent. People dry clean blankets because they do not clean evenly in the washing machine unless you have a big one.

what i did with my harry potter scarf is that i used Red Heart super saver yarn, its a worsted weight and in one skein you get 364 yards for about $2.17. I would recommend size 8 needles with this yarn.

here is the pattern that i used in case you dont have one. you can choose which style you want.

I am new to knitting and recently bought two different kits for knitting socks. However they both use language that i dont understand and i just cant work out what i am supposed to do. The end result is entertaining though!!!.
Can anyone recommend a simple step by step idiots guide for knitting socks for a beginner?
Many thanks

Check the local JoAnn’s for a book called I Can’t Believe I’m Knitting Socks
The book shows each part of a basic sock in a different color so you can easily understand WHAT they are talking about when they call for the Heel Flap, the Heel, the Gusset, etc.
It also calls for size 4 needles and a worsted weight yarn (Paton’s Classic Wool) which is much easier than starting out with a size 2 needle and very thin sock yarn.

I know how to knit the "Magic Loop" and I hate it. I learned so that I could answer questions at work. HOWEVER, when I knit socks I use a 12 inch circular Addi Turbo for the leg and foot. I use only 2 of the 4 needles in a set of double pointed needles for the Heel Flap and Heel. I use the 4 double pointed needles for the last few rows of the toe only. I HIGHLY recommend bamboo needles for beginners if you are going to use just the double pointed needles because double pointed metal needles are quite slipperly and it is too easy to drop stitches.

Though it is possible to pick up stitches with a knitting needle it is much easier to use a crochet hook (size B for sock yarn; size F for worsted weight yarn).

There are two videos on the internet which explain kitchener stitch. Look for the one in brown and beige rather than the one using only blue yarn.
