What are the most practical knits/crochets for babies? I’ve been hearing a lot about sleep sacks and also carseat blankets. I know most people do baby booties although I have heard they come off and get lost. Any opinions? Thanks!
make crib blankets and sleeping outfits. You can find a lot of things to make for babies on several of the sites and if you are planning on making something email me with what you plan on making and how. Knit or crochet. For a start you can go to http://www.Lionbrand.com or check out http://www.knittingpatternsccentral.com or http://www.crochetpatternscentral.com and go to their directories.

It depends on what climate the baby lives in and if it is a girl or boy. When my daughter was born I knitted her a hooded bunting in bright colors and sewed the bottom seam with a separate thread so that after she learned to walk I took that seam out and it became a long winter dress. She wore it until she was 2 1l2 and I won a ribbon for it at out county fair last year (it was 30 years old). Mittens are good, connect them with a cord that will go up one sleeve, across the shoulders, and down the other sleeve - no lost mitten! I always had way too many baby blankets so one that is nice and warm and larger than the tiny newborn ones is good. Booties and socks do come off but so do shoes. For babies in warmer climates you can take a double layer of nice flannel or single layer of fleece and crochet around it with baby yarn.
