Hello knitters! This video is designed to give you lots of clear and helpful information about the foundation stitch of knitting: the knit stitch. I also talk about garter stitch fabric, what it looks like, what it’s good for and how you can make it.

There are many …
There are many reasons why your stitch count might increase:
– you’re not removing the worked stitch from the left needle after having completed it
– you’re working into the space between the stitches (I did this a lot when I started out)
– you’re making an accidental ‘yarn over’, i.e., you’re bringing the yarn around to the front of the needle and over it again before working the next stitch, which makes a hole in the fabric
It’s hard to give concrete advice without seeing it. Good luck!
