Economic Crisis 2009 – Stock up on Crafts, Sewing, Quilting Supplies – Learn and teach how to

Posted on September 3rd, 2009 by admin

Discussion explaining to people that they should stock up on craft supplies, sewing and quilting supplies so that they will have materials on hand to make their own clothes, blankets, household useful items. During the coming depression you are not going to be able to go out and buy many items. But if you have crafting supplies already on hand, then you can make your own items.

Some items I would have on hand:

Fabric (material)
thread
needles
sewing machine
batting
scissors
measuring tape or yard stick
buttons
elastic
zippers
snaps
cutting mat
rotary cutter
bias tape
ribbon
yarn
knitting needles
glue
glue sticks
glue gun
wood
tools
nails
screws
bolts
paint
stain
pillow stuffing
paint brushes
crochet thread
patterns for men, women and children in your family’s sizes
iron or press

If you folks have any other tips or items, please share them in the comments section

If things get that bad, just learn the old ways. We didn’t have electricity or even running water? But we got by. We also gave thanks for what we did have! still do. peace

USA is taking the line of creating political, financial, social, & religious stunts that play a vital role in moving forward for its global destruction policies to carry out. US govt has slaved its own nation. Born free taxed to death. $ will not be the global currency any more as declared in G-20 meeting. Internationally global policies of politics & trade are quickly changing. If USA wants to keep standing where it was it will have to leave the war track & not violate global peace any more.

I truly think WE are to blame for the economic crisis and here’s why. You get a credit card, charge thousands and thousands of dollars on it, or make a huge down payment on a house, then can’t afford to pay it back, so now you’re in debt. Now, because you are in debt, you no longer have money to spend, and therefore alot of stores lose sales, they have to lay off their employees because they are not having enough sales and it costs to much to keep the employees, and therefore they shut down.

One comment: I would stay away from glue guns. If it happens that the electricity gets interrupted, it’s much better to purchase permanent and semi-permanent fabric glue. It works just as well (if not better) than glue gun adhesive. In any case, I’m updating my hand-sewing, knitting, and crochet skills. Thanks for the tip!

Gosh, there are a lot of us who would love to teach young people to sew. They aren’t very interested, they “don’t have time” among other reasons. They’d rather throw it away and buy a new one. There are young people who are learning which is really refreshing. Sew ON! It’s fun and pretty easy too. Remember, when you buy a sewing machine, you will probably get what you pay for.
